On February 2, 2022, the New Jersey Law Journal published an article titled “Small Firm Mergers Piling Up in New Jersey“. Szaferman Lakind Partner Sam Gaylord was featured in the article as he discussed his decision as former Managing Partner of Gaylord Popp, LLC to merge with Szaferman Lakind at the beginning of 2022.
In discussing the decision to merge Sam noted “Smarter attorneys are going to find ways to connect with, if not merge into, other firms to either share resources or find creative ways to be partners.” He goes on to mention “It’s going to be very difficult going forward to be the solo attorney as it historically has been … unless you have really specific niche which really allows you to differentiate yourself from what other people are doing.”
