Janine G. Bauer has successfully represented large corporate and medium to small business clients in purchase, sale, lease, option, merger and other corporate transactions and contracts since 1985.
Janine is also an experienced land use and zoning attorney, handling development and redevelopment matters, historic preservation and historic tax credits, and brownfields remediation and redevelopment. Janine’s expertise with site remediation, cost recovery, transportation, infrastructure, historic preservation, and permitting creates efficiency for clients looking to develop sites with legacy contamination issues that require approvals from different agencies and coordination with experts including civil engineering, geotechnical, environmental, air quality, storm water, vapor intrusion, and others to navigate the process successfully. Janine is also experienced with transportation improvement programs, capital planning, access permits, and infrastructure development processes including NEPA, Section 106, Section 4f, and transit and other federal grant and legislative funding processes.
Janine is familiar with all aspects of soil, groundwater, surface water and sediment hazardous substance contamination and compliance, cost recovery, contribution, allocation, and defense of enforcement actions. Janine is currently co-chair of PRP groups at two Superfund sites in the process of remediation, and is counsel to numerous clients remediating sites under supervision of NJDEP or a licensed site remediation professional. Janine has handled numerous litigation matters, including complex, multiparty environmental litigation, for over 37 years.
Janine has also represented plaintiffs in toxic tort litigation including asbestos exposure and talc-induced mesothelioma in New Jersey’s mass tort litigation venued in Middlesex County, N.J., medical surveillance cases, and PFAS compound-exposure well water cases venued in federal court in Camden.
Janine is admitted to and regularly practices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Florida and is admitted in several federal courts within those jurisdictions. Janine is a strategic and experienced trial lawyer, and a former criminal prosecutor in Mercer County, N.J. Janine is also a registered legislative agent in New Jersey, and advises municipalities and other public entities and private clients.
