Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution
Most lawsuits settle without a trial. However, you can spend a lot of money and time just to prepare your case. Therefore, many lawyers engage mediators to help them settle cases early in the process. If mediation is unsuccessful, cases can be resolved using other forms of alternative dispute resolution, such as arbitration and mini-trials.
At Szaferman Lakind, we are fortunate to have esteemed and experienced retired judges leading our mediation and arbitration practice. Anthony Parrillo, J.A.D. (Ret.), served on the Superior Court, Appellate Division for 13 years, and he confines his practice to arbitration. Linda Feinberg, A.J.S.C. (Ret.), served as a Superior Court Judge in the Trial Division, the Municipal Court Judge in Lawrence Township, before being elevated to serve as the Assignment Judge in Mercer County. Many of our most successful pre-trial settlements result from mediation before retired judges and other skilled mediators.
We will help you navigate the process and prepare your case for mediation, arbitration or other alternative dispute forums to bring about the best possible result for you, including continuing negotiations, arranging for payment of liens, or penalties, and litigation of side issues through motion practice where necessary to clarify issues which may be preventing a successful mediation from occurring. We will be by your side every step of the way, just as we would if your case were going to trial in court.
